Who are we?

From Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologias da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, we started as a small group of people interested in developing their knowledge and skills in Cyber Security. Our interests lead us to the creation of this group.

Currently we organize activities every week where we solve various types of online challenges.

Objectives:

• Spread awareness.
• Develop knowledge and skills in the area.
• Promote activities related with Cyber Security.

What is Cyber Security?

From Wikipedia, Computer security, cybersecurity or information technology security (IT security) is the protection of computer systems from the theft of or damage to their hardware, software, or electronic data, as well as from the disruption or misdirection of the services they provide.

Why does it matter?

As we know it today Cyber Security is becoming more important due to increased reliance on computer systems, the Internet and wireless network standards such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and due to the growth of “smart” devices, including smartphones, televisions, and the various devices that constitute the “Internet of things”. Owing to its complexity, both in terms of politics and technology, cybersecurity is also one of the major challenges in the contemporary world.
